El Centurion Gets New Limited Edition Size

My Father Cigars Inc. has shipped a limited edition vitola of their recently re-released El Centurion blend to three stores: Federal Cigars in New Hampshire, Atlantic Cigar in Pennsylvania and Casa de Montecristo in Illinois.

The new El Centurion Toria is a 5 5/8 x 46 Corona Gorda limited to 600 boxes of 20 with an MSRP of $8 per cigar and $160 per box. Each of the three stores is receiving 200 boxes of the new size.

It becomes the fifth size in the El Centurion line, joining the four regular production sizes: a 5 1/2 x 54 Belicoso, 5 3/8 x 50 Robusto, 6 1/4 x 52 Toro and 6 1/2 x 52 Toro Grande.

According to Janny Garcia of My Father Cigars, the El Centurion Toria has shipped from Miami and should be arriving at retail later this week. Federal Cigar has already listed the cigar for sale on its website, and Rick Gadway of Federal Cigar told halfwheel he expects to have the cigars in stock by Friday.

The El Centurion name was first used in 2007 for a line that was the first limited edition for José “Don Pepín” García’s El Rey de los Habanos. After an absence from the marketplace for several years, its return was announced in March 2013 and the cigar returned to retail shelves in May as a regular part of My Father Cigars’ catalog. As Pepín’s stature in the cigar industry grew, the original El Centurion release became a highly sought-after collectible among cigar smokers, particularly in the noted Lancero vitola.

Each of the three stores selected has a noted history with My Father Cigars and the García family. Casa de Montecristo has hosted the García family for events in recent years, while Atlantic Cigars recently held a birthday party for Jose García and released a special sampler for the event that featured a new Robusto size for the My Father Le Bijou line. Federal Cigar has had a number of store exclusives made for them by My Father Cigars, including a recently released My Father Le Bijou Grand Robusto that became Federal’s fourth store exclusive size in that line. They also have a store exclusive called the My Father Cigars Federal Cigar Special F, which is based off the event-only My Father Cigars S Special, which shares a number of design attributes with the El Centurion line and was thought to be related to that original release.
