E.P. Carrillo is working on a new line that will debut at the 2013 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show called the E-Stunner that has an inspiration that may come as a surprise to many.

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III says the cigar is “very different than anything we currently have.” He says its inspiration came from the energy drink trend,  and that the company is striving to create a cigar that serves the same functions as an energy drink. He said it will be “strong, full of flavor, and if you smoke the whole cigar, it will definitely stun you.”

Numerous details about the cigar are still being finalized, though Carrillo did confirm that it will debut with a natural wrapper and in three sizes:

  • • 4 x 46
  • • 5 x 50
  • • 5 1/2 x 54

The artwork is also being finalized, but he did provide a working proof of what the bands and artwork will look like:

As for the name, Carrillo said that it’s name doesn’t have any complex back story. “E is my father’s first initial, so it’s just Ernesto’s version of a stunner,” he said.

The E.P. Carrillo E-Stunner was first mentioned in Cigar Insider.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
