The cigar will debut at 8 to 8 Cigars, Casa de Montecristo’s sister store in Villa Park, Ill., during their Father’s Day weekend event from June 14 – 16 with limited availability. It will make its Casa de Montecristo debut on Thursday, June 27.
The E.P. Carrillo Generosos will come in four sizes, with prices ranging between $8 – $12, and each size will come in 15-count boxes.
- Robusto – 5 x 54
- Toro – 6 x 52
- Box-pressed Torpedo – 6 1/8 x 52
- Gordo – 6 x 60
The cigars are described as medium-bodied, using an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper, Dominican binder and Nicaraguan filler to create a flavor profile highlighted by a nice spice with nutty and earthy notes. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III told halfwheel that the cigars were developed as a project between his father, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, Jr. and Sam and Mike Khalil of Casa de Montecristo. According to the younger Carrillo, the cigars are already on their way from the company’s Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. factory in the Dominican Republic.
While the E.P. Carrillo Generosos is not a store exclusive, Casa de Montecristo has the rights to the cigar and could expand its availability in the future.
Casa de Montecristo will also be hosting Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, Jr. and Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III for a dinner following the in-store launch.
An earlier version of this story identified the E.P. Carrillo Generosos as a store exclusive for Casa de Montecristo.
