Toscano is not just a cigar brand from Italy, it’s an Italian cigar company. That means it makes Italian cigars, ones that tend to be a bit thinner than a typical premium cigar, use fire-cured tobacco and can be cut in half prior to smoking. For its newest release, Toscano is changing things up.
The new Toscano Brenta is the company’s first cigar to use air-cured tobacco, i.e. tobacco that is processed without the use of extreme heat from fires. As for the tobacco, it’s habano-seed grown in Veneto, a region in northeast Italy. The cigar measures 4 1/8 (4.14 inches) x 56 and cut open on both ends.
Compared to a typical Toscano cigar, there are a number of differences. Unlike most Toscano cigars, the Brenta has a binder. In addition, because it uses air-cured tobacco, it will need to be stored in a humidor, something that isn’t required for a typical Toscano. The size means that the cigar is about the length of a typical Toscano, if it was cut in half.
The MSRP is set at $9 per cigar, and it comes in boxes of 20 cigars.
From Sept. 26-Oct. 11, it will be sold via the Premium Cigar Association’s (PCA) Product Hub, a retail sales platform from the PCA, a retail trade group. That means it will only be available to PCA members and Toscano will donate a proceed of its sales from orders placed via the Product Hub. After Oct. 11, it will be offered to all retailers directly from Toscano.
“The partnership with PCA is essential so that Manifatture Sigaro Toscano can make its voice heard in matters of public interest,” said Luciano Simeone, sales director for Manifatture Sigaro Toscano, in a press release. “PCA represents a bastion in defense of the cigar market in respect of legality and in the discussion on possible limitations that could compromise business development without any advantage for society. We have collaborated successfully in various activities for years and continue to do so with determination. For this reason, we decided to create a special cigar to celebrate this winning partnership.”
