Via their blog, Emerson’s Cigars announced that it will be one of just five retailers to receive a new size of the My Father Flor de las Antillas called the M.A.M.-13.

This new vitola will be a 6 x 48 and will be offered in a round format, a departure from the slight box press found on regular production Flor de las Antillas sizes. Like the rest of the line, it will come in 20-count boxes, with production capped at 500 boxes. The cigar comes with a suggested retail price of $7.25 and is expected to be available at Emerson’s around October 1st.

According to the post, the cigar is only being made available to five retailers in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama. A My Father Cigars representative was not immediately available for comment on this new release.

This is the latest in a string of limited releases of the Flor de las Antillas this year, as a 6 1/2 x 48 Short Churchill was made for Holt’s Cigars, a 7 1/2 x 38 Lancero (reviewed here) was made for Up In Smoke, Binny’s Beverage Depot received a 6 x 60 Toro Grande (reviewed here) and a 5 3/4 x 54 vitola called the DeSocio was made for Alliance Cigar.

The regular production Toro vitola has also been reviewed on halfwheel.

Update (Sept. 25, 2013) – Cigars & More in Birmingham, Ala. has listed the cigar for pre-order on their website. They refer to is as the MAM 13 LE, which is slightly different from how Emerson’s Cigars referred to it.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
