It might not be the traditional celebratory choice of St. Patrick’s Day, but that isn’t stopping MoyaRuiz from releasing Pickle Juice as its cigar for the Irish holiday.

It’s a 6 x 50 Nicaraguan puro, with a habano-seed candela wrapper giving the cigar its signature green color. Production is being handled by Erik Espinosa’s La Zona Cigar Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

MoyaRuiz is producing 500 hand-numbered jars with 13 cigars inside, for a total retail run of 6,500 cigars, though some additional unnumbered jars will be made for promotional use. Only 50 retailers will be selected to carry the cigar, with each store receiving 10 of the jars. Those retailers will be announced at a later date, with the cigars scheduled to ship around March 7 and pricing still to be announced.

In a press release issued by the company, Pickle Juice is described as a project that came out of a desire “to create something special for our customers that have supported MoyaRuiz Cigars since day one.”

The plastic containers are designed to look like traditional pickle jars, complete with screw top lids and a tobacco facts panel that resembles a nutritional facts section, which notes that the cigar contains a blend of 40 percent ligero, 30 percent viso and 30 percent seco.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
