The Montecristo Epic Vintage 12 is now shipping to select retailers.

Altadis U.S.A. has begun shipping its latest Montecristo line, a bit later than the previously announced April ship date. Epic Vintage 12 uses an Ecuadorian Sumatran wrapper over a Dominican binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The “Vintage 12” part of the name is a reference to some of the Dominican fillers, which are said to be from the 2012 harvest.

It is offered in two sizes:

  • Montecristo Epic Vintage 12 Blue Toro (6 x 52) — $17.75 (Box of 10, $177.50)
  • Montecristo Epic Vintage 12 Blue No. 2 (6 x 50) — $18.50 (Box of 10, $185)

While the line is just now starting to ship to stores, there were multiple launch events for the cigar hosted at Casa de Montecristo stores in May.

Altadis U.S.A., which owns the trademark for the Montecristo brand in the U.S., introduced the Epic brand in 2012 with a cigar that used an Ecuadorian wrapper over Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. In 2017, the company introduced Epic Craft Cured, a Nicaraguan puro made by the Plasencia family.

The new version is being made at Tabacalera de García in the Dominican Republic.

Altadis U.S.A. says the Epic Vintage 12 will be at stores nationwide next month.
