Michael Cellucci Resigns at Quality Importers

Michael Cellucci’s tenure at Quality Importers Trading Co. will come to an end after just over two years.

Cellucci, the company’s president, confirmed to halfwheel that he is resigning. His time at the company, which began in January 2017, is most notable for the company’s acquisition of XIKAR, arguably the most recognizable name in cigar accessories. That acquisition also meant an investment in Quality Importers by Svoboda Capital Partners, LLC.

It gave Quality Importers an in-field sales team, doubled the company’s size and brought the QI name to much greater prominence.

“I am very proud of our accomplishments at Quality Importers,” said Cellucci in a press release. “I feel that in just two years, we set aggressive goals; and, to have reached those aggressive targets in such a short time is very gratifying.”

In addition to the XIKAR acquisition, the company also hired two key executive personnel from Colibri, another competitor.

“Having the opportunity to work with Cellucci enabled us to take advantage of opportunities that weren’t previously available to us,” said Michael Giordano, Quality Importers’ ceo. “When we had the chance to work together at QI, we didn’t hesitate. We wouldn’t be here this quickly without his help, and look forward to where our paths lead to next.”

Cellucci said he is exploring his options as far as his next job but he will resume work through his consulting business, The Fairfax Group, LLC.

Prior to his tenure at Quality Importers, Cellucci spent 17 years at Drew Estate, the last four of which he was the president.
