Micallef Cigars has announced that it will discontinue the entire family of its Grande Bold cigars next year.

Effective January 2023, the Grande Bold lines will be discontinued. There are five different blends—Ligero Maduro, Mata Fina, Nicaragua and Sumatra—and a total of 22 SKUs affected by the decision.

“We are excited about how the investments we’ve made in our factory and tobacco inventory are producing Micallef Cigars people love!” Said Dan Thompson, President of Micallef Cigars “We are focusing our portfolio to better serve consumers through our family-owned Brick & Mortar business partners. This business decision positions us to oversee the journey from the field to our friends and ensures the best experience.”

The Micallef Grande Bold line was introduced in 2018. In a press release, Micallef says the decision to discontinue the lines is due in part because of a more favorable situation regarding FDA regulations, which should make it easier for companies to legally introduce new blends compared to in 2018.

In addition, Micallef says that it will be adding robusto sizes to its Micallef A and Reata lines in 2023.
