At the upcoming Tobacco Plus Expo (TPE) trade show, Micallef Cigars will release six new vitolas spread across three of its lines.

The company’s Experiencia La Crema line will get three of the six new sizes, adding a Robusto (5 × 54, $11), Toro (6 × 52, $11.50), and Gordo (6 × 60, $13), all of which come in 20-count boxes. The line uses a Mexican San Andrés Sumatran wrapper over an Ecuadorian habano binder and a filler that contains tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Panama.

The Micallef Connecticut adds two new sizes, a Toro (6 × 52, $10) and Gordo (6 × 60, $12), each packed into 25-count boxes. As the name suggests, this blend features a four-year aged Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, which sits atop a Nicaraguan habano binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.

Rounding out the new sizes is a 6 x 52 Toro vitola ($10) that joins the company’s Migdalia line. It will come in 24-count boxes, and like the rest of the line, uses a Mexican San Andrés habano wrapper that has been aged for four years, Sumatran binder and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. It becomes just the second size in the line, joining the original 4 x 46 vitola.

All of the new sizes are set to begin shipping at the conclusion of the 2019 Tobacco Plus Expo, which happens Feb. 11-13 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
