The Cincinnati, Ohio suburb of Miami Township will ring in the new year with a complete smoking ban in its parks, as the town council passed the ban at its Aug. 16 meeting after three public hearings.

The ban will go into effect on Jan. 1, after a period of public education, according to a report from the Clermont Sun.

Miami Township is home to approximately 41,000 residents. It is located approximately 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati.
