Meier & Dutch, the Bethlehem, Pa. cigar distribution company, has received an exclusive size of the A.J. Fernández New World, a 7 x 52 Churchill.

Like the other sizes in the line, it comes in a 20-count box and is priced at $126, or $6 per cigar. It features the same all Nicaraguan blend, with an oscuro wrapper, binder from Jalapa, and fillers from Condega, Ometepe and ligero from Finca Soledad in Estelí.

New World debuted at the 2014 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show with four sizes, Gobernador (6 1/2 x 55), Navegante (5 1/2 x 55), Virrey (6 x 58) and Almirante, a 5 1/2 x 55 Belicoso. A fifth size, Brute (6 x 66), was added in April 2015 as a store exclusive for Serious Cigars in Houston, Texas.

The line is a collaboration between Abdel Fernandez, head of A.J. Fernandez, and his father, Ismael, a cigar industry veteran who spent 17 years with the Plasencia family.

In May 2015, the New World Connecticut was released as a line extension.

Meier & Dutch is the distribution arm of Cigars International.

Update: The cigar comes in 20, not 21-count boxes.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
