Création Liberté, a new limited edition from Meerapfel Cigar that the company is using to help raise funds for organizations that support cigar rights around the world, is on its way to stores.

It is a 6 x 50 toro that uses the Meerapfel family’s signature Cameroon wrapper over an undisclosed binder and filler. As with many of Meerapfel Cigar’s, production is very limited; in this case, just 1,226 cigars were produced for a global release. The cigars don’t come cheap, as they cost $240 for a two-count chest in the U.S. and €240 elsewhere in the world.

While Création Liberte comes with a premium price tag, the company says that funds raised from the cigar will be used to support platforms around the world that defend the rights of individuals to enjoy premium cigars, including Cigar Rights of America.

Beyond the cigars, each set comes with a numbered lithographic artwork.

“Fierce anti-tobacco movements continue to infringe on fundamental rights and the liberties of responsible adult citizens,” the company said in a press release. “Now more than ever, the global fight for cigar rights has become vital for the survival of a multi-century-old cigar heritage, our culture and traditional craftsmanship.”

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
