Mecklenburg County, N.C. Considers Expansive Smoking Ban

Mecklenburg County, N.C.—which includes the city of Charlotte—is weighing a smoking ban that could extend as far as  banning smoking inside businesses. The proposed ban would ban smoking at all county property, including inside buildings, vehicles and at parks and golf courses. 

It’s unclear how close a formal vote is, but Smoke Free Mecklenburg and Smoke Free NC are pushing the matter and commissioners are formally considering the matter.

Mecklenburg County is located in the southern portion of the state. It has a population just under 1 million people.
