After putting aged Flor de Selva No. 15s next to current ones in a limited release last year, this year, Maya Selva is releasing a small batch of its Flor de Selva Tempo that has been aged for 10 years to show off the effects of time on its cigars.
The Flor de Selva line is a Honduran puro, with a Connecticut-seed wrapper while the binder is grown in the Jamastrán region. The Tempo vitola is a 6 x 60 gordo that the company says offers a medium strength profile.
The cigars in this release were rolled in 2013, and are being released with an MSRP of $27.65 per cigar and $276.50 for a box of 10 cigars. A total of 500 boxes are being released, with shipping expected to occur at the end of May.
The company says that it has set aside thousands of cigars from a variety of vitolas and brands for future releases that will feature cigars that have undergone a guaranteed aging process under carefully controlled conditions of temperature, humidity, and light.
Correction (March 18, 2024) — An earlier version of this article indicated that 500 cigars were being released, when it is 500 boxes of 10 cigars. We have corrected the error and regret the mistake.
