This week, the Macanudo Emissary España is getting a fifth size, the first limited edition vitola for the line.

The Macanudo Emissary España Torpedo is a 6 x 52 torpedo. Like the four regular production vitolas, it uses a five-year-old Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a six-year-old binder from Condega, Nicaragua. The filler contains four different tobaccos: five-year-old Colombian tobacco, five-year-old piloto tobacco from the Dominican Republic, six-year-old Nicaraguan tobacco from ASP and 10-year-old Spanish tobacco. The latter is grown near Riolobos, which is located in Cáceres in the western part of the country. General says the area is known for its rocky soil and Mediterranean climate, which is why olive trees and peppers are grown there.

It has an MSRP of $17.99 per cigar and is limited to 1,500 boxes of 16 cigars.

“For the Emissary lineup, we really wanted to pull out all of the stops and craft a cigar that epitomizes European sophistication,” said Steve Abbot, director of marketing, in a press release. “We are really happy with the result, and based on the popularity of the cigar, we wanted to come out with another great offering. We landed on a box-pressed torpedo, which brings out the best blend for a smooth smoking experience that highlights the rare tobaccos within.”

General Cigar Co. says the cigars will ship on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
