Tabacalera USA has announced that Luis Miguel Torres has been named the new head of Casa de Montecristo, Inc., which is a unit of Tabacalera USA and the Imperial Brands group of companies that focuses on the cigar retailing segment.

According to a statement issued by the company on Thursday, Torres has more than 20 years of experience in cigar and retail industries, most recently directing Oettinger Davidoff AG’s national retail cigar program for three years. Prior to that, he spent four years as general manager for a number of cigar lounges, including the Davidoff of Geneva — since 1911 location on Madison Avenue in New York City.

“Luis has a demonstrated track record of achievement and leadership,” said Javier Estades, head of Tabacalera USA in a press release.  “We look forward to a long and productive relationship with Luis as we take the cigar-life experience to new heights as we continue to grow our successful Casa de Montecristo program.”

Torres will officially begin in the role within the next 30 days.

Casa de Montecristo is a collection of 28 retail stores across the country, 19 of which are company owned. According to the company, it is a title awarded only to “premium cigar stores and lounges exemplifying the luxury, quality and lifestyle that have been associated with the Montecristo brand.” The list of stores is:
