The next release from Sam Leccia will launch on a holiday. Leccia Tobacco will release Luchador on May 5, the date of the popular Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo.

Luchador band cut

Leccia Luchador uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Ecuadorian habano binder and fillers from three countries: ligeros from Pennsylvania and the Jamastra region of Honduras, viso from Estelí, Nicaragua, as well as tobacco from the Ometepe.

Four sizes are planned for the release: El Castigo (6 x 60), El Guapo (6 x 50), El Hombre (5 x 54) and Loco Perfecto (6 x 58). Each will come in boxes of 21 featuring a luchadores mask.

Luchadores are professional wrestlers, popular in Mexico and known for their signature masks.

“Fun branding aside, the Luchador is a seriously unique blend that goes from sweet to spicy in 0 to 60,” said Sam Leccia.

Multiple events are said to be planned for the launch of Luchador.

This is the third line for Leccia Tobacco following last year’s release of the Leccia Black and Leccia White. The brand is distributed in the U.S. by Toraño Family Cigar Company.
