Smoking in public parks in Lawrence Township, N.J. will now earn you a fine. The township committee unanimously passed a smoking ban at its January meeting.

Under the new law, a first offense carries a fine between $50-100, a second offense $100-200 and any further offenses will bring a $200-500 fine.

Lawrence Township has a population under 35,000 and is located in between the cities of Trenton and Princeton.
