On Friday afternoon, the L’Atelier Imports Facebook page was updated with a picture of a new cigar that is slated to be released in 2013, the 6 x 60 Surrogates Animal Cracker.
The photo shows Dan Welsh of L’Atelier holding the new cigar with a caption of “Surrogates Animal Cracker – 2013.”

Specifics on the blend were not immediately available as the L’Atelier Imports team is in Nicaragua working on new projects, but Welsh did say that the Surrogates Animal Cracker is slated for release at the 2013 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show, which is coming up July 13-17, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV. As mentioned above, it is a 6 x 60 vitola with a fuma head.
The Surrogates line first appeared as a store exclusive for Welsh’s NewHavanaCigars.com and has since evolved into a four-cigar line that includes the Tramp Stamp, Crystal Baller, Bone Crusher and Skull Breaker. The line made its official debut at the 2012 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show in Orlando.
L’Atelier Imports also produces the LAT premium line and the value-based El Suelo and Trocadero lines. Surrogates and LAT are produced at My Father Cigars, S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua, while El Suelo and Trocadero are produced at TACUBA, also owned by My Father Cigars, S.A. in Estelí.
In mid-December, L’Atelier announced that they would be adding a new cigar to their LAT line, the LAT46 Selection Spéciale, or LAT46 SS. It is a 5 5/8 x 46 Corona Gorda that uses a higher priming wrapper leaf than is found on the standard LAT line.
