La Sirena is in the final stages of finalizing its next release, and the decision may well be made on the floor of the 2016 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show.

The company has been working on a new limited edition lancero with Erik Espinosa and his La Zona Cigar Factory for several months, but with FDA regulations looming large on the cigar industry, a decision needs to be made soon to get the final product to market ahead of the Aug. 8 deadline.

What is known is that the new cigar will be slightly thicker than normal lancero, currently slated to be box-pressed and in a 7 x 44 vitola. It will be a Nicaraguan puro similar to that of the La Sirena core line, which uses a habano oscuro wrapper.

Danny Ditkowich said it will be his daughter Arielle that will make the final decision on the cigar, as it’s ultimately her brand. Arielle Ditkowich is known as the face of La Sirena, appearing in the brand’s advertisements and marketing materials.

Once the final specifications are confirmed, there will be 100 20-count boxes produced and available for sale at the show, which runs July 25-28 in Las Vegas, Nev. A full release date has not yet been confirmed.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
