La Palina has begun shipping the updated versions of its Nicaragua Connecticut and Oscuro lines, which it first showed off at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show.

The company moved production of the lines to an undisclosed Nicaraguan factory, and as part of the change reworked the blend and gave the lines new packaging and new bands. Both versions remains Nicaraguan puros, using either a Connecticut seed wrapper or a habano oscuso wrapper. While the company did not initially disclose where the line was being produced, it has since confirmed that it is being produced at Fábrica de Tabacos Joya de Nicaragua.

Both blends are offered in the three same vitolas:

  • La Palina Nicaragua Connecticut/Oscuro Robusto (5 x 52) — $9.50 (Box of 20, $190)
  • La Palina Nicaragua Connecticut/Oscuro Toro (6 x 50) — $10.50 (Box of 20, $210)
  • La Palina Nicaragua Connecticut/Oscuro Gordo (6 x 58) — $11.50 (Box of 20, $230)

The revamped La Palina Nicaragua was originally scheduled to ship to stores in late August or early September of 2022, but was delayed due to packaging issues. After initially being announced as a limited production item, the company has confirmed that it will be part of the company’s regular production offerings.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
