La Instructora Adding Two New Sizes

The two lines of the La Instructora brand will each be getting a new size next month, as well as a new price for an existing size.

The La Instructora Perfección line, which wears the multi-colored band, is adding a Short Robusto that measures 4 1/2 x 52 and comes priced at $10 per cigar. Meanwhile, the La Instructora Box Pressed line, which comes in the black-and-white bands, adds the #5, a 5 1/2 x 55 robusto priced at $15.

Both of the new sizes come in boxes of 15 cigars and retain the blends of the rest of the sizes. The Perfección uses an Ecuadorian habano rosado wrapper and Dominican criollo 98 binder from Potrero, with a blend of Dominican tobaccos for the filler. Blanco grew the Dominican criollo 98 seco and ligero from Potrero, while a Dominican piloto seco comes from La Canela and farmer Ernesto “Campeón” Infante. It’s rounded out by Dominican piloto viso from the Quisqueya Cia farm in La Canela.

The Box Pressed uses a Brazilian cubra wrapper, Dominican piloto binder from Jacagua, and a filler blend of Dominican criollo 98 ligero and seco from Potrero, and Dominican piloto seco and viso from La Canela. All but the wrapper is grown by José “Jochy” Blanco of Tabacalea Palma, which is producing both lines.

Both of the new sizes are scheduled to begin shipping during the first week in March.

Additionally, two sizes are changing their prices. The La Instructora Perfección Royal Corona goes from $10 to $11, while the La Corona Box Pressed #1 goes from $15 to $17 per cigar. “I believe the new pricing makes more logical sense and allows us to add the new sizes easily,” Aaron Saide said in a press release.
