A new Edición Regional release will be arriving on store shelves in Bulgaria beginning on Monday, as Kaliman Caribe Ltd. has announced the release of the La Gloria Cubana Via Balcanica.

The cigar is a double robusto that measures 6 3/10 inches (160mm) long and has a 50 ring gauge, a size known as the Magnum 50 and one that will be familiar to fans of the H.Upmann marca. It is also the same vitola that was used for the La Gloria Cubana Triunfos, an Edición Regional for Switzerland that was released in 2010.

The distributor has commissioned 6,000 boxes of 10 cigars, a total run of 60,000 sticks. Pricing is set at BGN 48 ($24.90) within the country. They are slated to be available as of Monday, July 11.

The cigars are also notable for wearing a modified secondary ring, as instead of simply indicating the country of the cigar’s release, it recognizes the 25th anniversary of Kaliman Caribe Ltd., which occurred in 2020. The cigars are part of the 2020 group of Edición Regional releases, but as is often the case, they did not arrive on schedule, something that has been compounded in recent years by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to distributing Habanos S.A. products in Bulgaria, the company distributes in Albania, Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia. The company is also a representative of Cohiba Atmosphere and La Casa del Habano, and is currently developing its own brand of specialized stores for premium cigars, cigarillos and tobacco products.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
