To provide a more fitting resting place for its 8 1/2 x 60 Digger, La Flor Dominicana has created a new pair of ashtrays that will share the same name as the cigar they were created to hold.

The Digger ashtrays are available in two styles, a porcelain version which retails for $40, and a mahogany version with metal trim that will retail for $80. Both will be on display at the IPCPR Convention and Trade Show that kicks off this weekend.

Both versions measure 11 1/2 inches long and six inches wide. La Flor Dominicana has not announced when these will begin shipping to retailers.

The company has also announced that they will be releasing a new pair of cigar scissors that use carbon fiber and surgical grade steel that will be usable on cigars of all ring gauges. While they are scheduled to ship in September, the company has not released photos or pricing information.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
