A couple years ago Karl Malone was at the Procigar festival in the Dominican Republic. Now the NBA legend is entering the cigar business.

Malone recently launched a retail store, Legends Cigar and Vape, in Ruston, La., where Malone owns a variety of restaurants. Ruston is also the home to Louisiana Tech University, Malone’s alma mater.

A separate business with a mailmancigars.com email has begun sending out invitations for a new cigar launch at this week’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show which appears to be another Malone project.

Malone was a guest of La Aurora at Procigar and the cigars are likely to be made from the factory. Jason Wood of Miami Cigar & Co., La Aurora’s U.S. distributor, told halfwheel that his company was not involved with distribution.

A previous profile of Malone indicated the cigar would be called Legends 32.

Malone is a basketball Hall of Famer. He was a two-time NBA MVP, 14-time All-Star, 11-time NBA first-team, a member of the NBA’s 50th Anniversary team and won two gold medals with Team U.S.A.

An email sent to an account associated with the company was not immediately returned.
