Karen Berger Cigars has announced that the K by Karen Berger 25th Anniversary by AJ Fernandez is now available as a regular production cigar within the company’s portfolio.

The 6 x 52 toro debuted last year as a limited edition item, with the first release limited to 1,500 boxes of 20 cigars. In an email, Bruce Busch, vice president of Karen Berger Cigars, told halfwheel that the cigar is still made at the Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A. factory in Nicaragua and uses the same blend. In addition, the pricing will not change, it continues to have an MSRP of $16 per cigar, and the packaging will remain the same.

The news was first reported by Busch during an episode of the Rocky Mountain Cigar Show.

Blend-wise, the company says it uses a Connecticut habano broadleaf wrapper covering a Mexican San Andrés binder and filler tobaccos sourced from Nicaragua.

The K by Karen Berger 25th Anniversary by AJ Fernandez was released to commemorate the more than 25 years that Karen Berger and her late husband, Henry “Kiki” Berger, have worked in the cigar business. Henry Berger was one of the first Americans to come to Estelí where he established not only a cigar-making operation—Tabacalera Estelí—but also a farm. He is also credited with helping many who came to Estelí to make cigars.

According to Busch, the newest incarnation of the K by Karen Berger 25th Anniversary is currently shipping to retailers.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
