Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s Forged Cigar Co. is adding a new limited edition El Rey del Mundo cigar that is the result of a collaboration with Justo Eiroa of JRE Tobacco.

It’s called King of the World—El Rey del Mundo is Spanish for the king of the world—and it is a 6 x 50 Honduran puro that uses a habano-seed wrapper, corojo binder and habano fillers to create what the company describes as a medium-strength smoke that offers “notes of citrus, cedar, light spice, and cream.”

“It was an honor to work with Justo Eiroa to create this limited edition for El Rey,” said Cory Beardsley, brand manager for El Rey del Mundo, via a press release. “El Rey del Mundo is a legendary name in the cigar industry, and this King of the World limited edition offers a nuanced smoking experience that will captivate enthusiasts and newcomers alike.”

The cigars are made at Eiroa’s Fábrica de Puros Aladino S.A. in Honduras. Production is limited to 2,000 boxes of 16 cigars, a total run of 32,000 cigars. This is the first time that the factory has made an El Rey del Mundo cigar, though it has partnered with STG for various other projects.

A Forged Cigar Co. spokesperson said the cigars began shipping today. Pricing is set at $9.99 per cigar and $159.84 for a box of 16 cigars.

Update — Shortly after this story was published, Forged Cigar Co. confirmed that the cigars had started shipping.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
