The International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association (IPCPR) has announced that Joshua Habursky will be the organization’s new head of federal affairs, effective tomorrow.

Habursky most recently served as assistant vice-president of advocacy at the Independent Community Bankers of America. He previously worked at the American Diabetes Association and American Motorcyclist Association. He is also an adjunct professor at George Washington University’s graduate school of political management.

“Joshua brings an impressive background of proven experience in advocacy, both grassroots and grass tops,” said Scott Pearce, IPCPR executive director, in a press release. “Not only is he accomplished, but Joshua is an avid cigar lover and will bring serious dedication and passion to his work to advocate for our industry. I’m confident that he will continue to build on the great work of his predecessor and implement some innovative ways for us to carry our message forward.”

He replaces Daniel Trope who left the organization in February for Swisher International.

I am an editor and co-founder of halfwheel.com/Rueda Media, LLC. I previously co-founded and published TheCigarFeed, one of the two predecessors of halfwheel. I have written about the cigar industry for more than a decade, covering everything from product launches to regulation to M&A. In addition, I handle a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff here at halfwheel. I enjoy playing tennis, watching boxing, falling asleep to the Le Mans 24, wearing sweatshirts year-round and eating gyros. echte liebe.
