Jeffersonville, Ind. Says No More Smoking in Parks

Smoking is no longer allowed in the parks of Jeffersonville, Ind. after they city’s Parks Authority board implemented a new policy at its meeting this past Monday.

The ban covers all areas of the city’ 40 parks and also applies to the use of e-cigarettes and other vaping devices. While the ban doesn’t come with a fine for violators, that is something that is being considered for a future revision, according to a report by NewsAndTribune.com.

Smokers might be caught off guard by the new ban if they don’t follow the news, as signage isn’t being added to the parks yet due to a lack of funding. Burns noted that it will be, should funds become available. He said that the word will be spread via the internet, social media and word of mouth, but as of yet the ban has yet to be mentioned on the city’s website or that of the parks authority, and it has yet to show up on the latter’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Jeffersonville is located in southern Indiana along the Ohio River and just two miles northeast of Louisville, Ky. It is home to just over 45,000 residents.
