Omertà Cigars, which operates three stores in Oklahoma, one in Monroe, La., and an online storefront, will be receiving a store exclusive vitola of Jas Sum Kral’s Fuck the FDA in May.

It’s a 5 x 50 robusto and uses the same blend as the original 6 x 52 toro, meaning a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an undisclosed binder and filler. According to a press release from Jas Sum Kral, the cigars were rolled in July 2020, the same time as the original release. The cigars are produced at Tabacalera de Aragon S.A. in Nicaragua and will be offered in bundles of 10 priced at $90 before taxes.

Additionally, those bundles will feature the store’s branding, a notable change from the packaging of the original vitola, which comes in 10-count bundles wrapped in a copy of the cover page of FDA 499-page deeming regulations of certain tobacco products. The bands on the cigars remain the same, Riste Ristevski told halfwheel.

The cigars will go on sale on May 14 at Omertà’s South Tulsa, Okla. location, and May 15 at their other locations and via its website.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
