Jake Wyatt Cigar Co. has some new cigars on store shelves and more on the way.
The company has released a sampler featuring the five lines in its Gourmet Collection in a 5 5/8 x 46 corona gorda vitola. This new size is replacing the smaller, 5 1/2 x 44 corona that is currently offered in those lines: Appendix II, Fourth Dimension, Herbert Spencer, Lucid Interval and U.S.I.R. While the sampler is a limited edition with just 1,000 produced, the cigars are not, as they will be released on their own at the 2025 PCA Convention & Trade Show in April.
Pricing is set at $62.45 per sampler.
With those samplers arriving on shelves, the company is readying shipments of its Icarus line, which debuted at the 2024 Total Product Expo (TPE) in late January and will head to retailers this week.
Icarus’ blend features a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, a Dominican olor binder, and a mix of fillers that includes Tennessee fire-cured tobacco, Dominican criollo 98 and piloto cubano, and Pennsylvania broadleaf. The company says that the profile is full-flavored and medium-full in strength, highlighted by nuances of coffee, leather, cedar, and molasses add depth, while a subtle mesquite touch rounds out the sensory experience.
The line debuted in a 6 x 54 toro, and now gets two more sizes:
- Jake Wyatt Icarus Corona Gorda (5 5/8 x 46) — $12.49 (Box of 22, $274.78)
- Jake Wyatt Icarus Robusto (5 x 50) — $12.99 (Box of 22, $285.78)
- Jake Wyatt Icarus Toro (6 x 54) — $13.99 (Box of 22, $307.78)
While the Icarus toro was initially offered in five-count packs, it and the other two sizes are now offered in 22-count boxes.
The Icarus line is produced at Casamorabo Tabacalera S.R.L. in Santiago, Dominican Republic. It gets its name from the character in Greek mythology who attempted to use wings made out of wax to fly to the heavens, only to have the sun’s heat melt the wings and send him into the Aegean Sea.
Update (Dec. 9, 2024) — Neil Garcia of Jake Wyatt Cigar Co. confirmed the number of samplers produced, which has been added to the story.
