Roberto P. Duran Premium Cigars has added its third former employee of the Toraño Family Cigar Co., as today the company announced that Jack Toraño  has been hired to oversee sales in Florida and the Caribbean.

“Jack Toraño was an integral part of Toraño Family Cigar Company and we are ecstatic to have him on board at Roberto P. Duran Premium Cigar Company,” Roberto P. Duran said via a press release. “Jack is very well known as he has travelled extensively and his popularity, charisma and four generations of tobacco heritage will go very far in helping us expand our brand.”

Toraño was with the company with whom he shared a name as the director of marketing for three years, before it was acquired by General Cigar Co. in September. In a press release, he said that “I wanted to take the time to find the company that matches my vision. I am excited to be working with Roberto Pelayo Duran who is as passionate about cigars as I am. Roberto P. Duran Premium Cigars is truly a boutique cigar company which owns its tobacco fields and creates their own cigars. The fact that we will be involved in everything from tobacco field all the way to the valued customer is what brought me here. Roberto Duran is creating a stellar team and I am happy to call Roberto P. Duran Premium Cigars my new home.”

The announcement comes days after Roberto P. Duran announced that Miguel Schoedel had been hired as the national sales manager, the same role he held at Toraño Family Cigar Co.  Frank Cuden has also joined Roberto P. Duran as a territory Manager in the Mid Atlantic. He had previously covered the area for Toraño Family Cigar Co.

Roberto P. Duran Premium Cigars launched last year. Its cigars are produced at the Nicatabaco S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
