The International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers’ Association (IPCPR) has announced that Daniel Trope will be the organization’s new director of federal government affairs.

Trope most recently served in a similar role for TenCate, a Dutch materials company that produces advanced composites for a variety of industries. He also worked in the office of former Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind.

“We are thrilled to have a professional of Daniel’s caliber spearheading our industry’s government affairs work in DC,” said John Anderson, chair of IPCPR’s federal government affairs board, in a press release. “After a thorough and rigorous candidate search process, we determined that Daniel’s energy, knowledge of the DC landscape and ability to communicate make him an ideal representative of our issues. I look forward to working with him at this critical time for our industry.”

He replaces Kip Talley, who resigned at IPCPR in August.

In addition, the organization has announced that Christine Morgan will formally join the organization to assist with associate members.

“Christine comes to us with significant knowledge of our manufacturer partners and experience in a retail shop,” said Dawn Conger, senior director of trade show & meetings. “She has been my right hand for two years so the learning curve is very short.”
