Warped Cigar is back this year with a couple of highly sought after cigars, some new counterfeit fighting technology and a brand new website.

While the bones of the Warped booth were the same, with just minor changes. That’s not to say the company has been sitting idle. Coinciding with the start of the trade show, they launched a brand new website, brought two highly sought after cigars back and started using some anti-counterfeiting technology that hasn’t been used in the cigar industry yet.

Prooftag Bubble Tag

With a large market in the wine world, Bubble Tags are a counterfeit-fighting technology that Kyle Gellis had heard of and after dealing with a counterfeiting problem with Warped, has decided to implement it for all his cigars. The first cigar to get the special stickers are the Flor del Valle Sky Flower, followed by all the new limited edition releases and eventually being rolled out to all the regular production lines as well.

Not only does the Bubble Tag act as a verification system, but Gellis added a QR code that pulls up the verification on Warped’s website, you’ll also be able to see what factory the cigar was rolled at, the roll date, who blended the cigar, the blend information and the size of the cigar.

Flor del Valle Seleccion de Valle

Initially slated as the Ghost Orchid, a trademark issue saw the name change to Seleccion de Valle. A regular production addition to the Flor de Valle line, the Seleccion de Valle features a 109 style head, that if you’re unfamiliar with, is somewhere between a traditional cap and a belicoso style cap.

I have been smoking cigars since 2005 and reviewing them as a hobby since 2010. Initially, I started out small with a 50-count humidor and only smoking one or two cigars a month. Not knowing anybody else that smoked cigars, it was only an occasional hobby that I took part in. In March of 2010, I joined Nublive and Cigar Asylum, connecting me with many people who also shared an interest in cigars. Reading what they had to say about brands I had never heard of, I quickly immersed myself in the boutique brands of the industry and it was then that cigars transformed from a hobby into a passion.
