Tucked up against one of the side walls, arguably the farthest from the front entrance of the show, is Sans Pareil & La Instructora, the two lines led by Aaron Saide. While it may not sound like an ideal spot, Saide was quite happy with it, knowing that the retailers who carry the brand would be treated to a new line that had not yet been formally announced.

The booth was fairly compact, two spaces wide with some display cases and a small seating area, though given that neither line is released in huge quantities, it fit the vibe of the brand. While Sans Pareil isn’t adding anything at the moment, there is a new offering for the La Instructora brand.

La Instructora Delicado

The La Instructora brand is getting its first Connecticut-wrapped cigar, though like pretty much every manufacturer says, this isn’t your typical Connecticut. Saide found the wrapper while walking through Tabacalera Palma and was immediately taken with its color as well as a sweet aroma, though he cautions not to think of it as a sweet cigar. He said it’s more about balance and lacking any of the lesser desired qualities of USA-grown Connecticut. It also features a new band design for the line, with just one splotch of paint as opposed to the heavy splatter found on the other two lines. Production will be ongoing but limited, as with most of the brand’s lines.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
