Cigar factories that release their own brands are not exactly rare in the industry, but that did not stop Tabacalera Pichardo—a Nicaraguan based factory—from offering its own cigars under the A.C.E. Prime name in its debut at the 2019 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show. In fact, the factory released a massive number of cigars, including the most talked about lines that are collaborations with former NBA players Dominique Wilkins and Tiago Splitter.

I have to say, I was extremely impressed with the booth for A.C.E. Prime every time I saw it, and I saw it a lot since it was located right in front of the halfwheel bunker. Each line had not only its own stand, but also its own screen behind it playing videos about it, and there was a huge closed in room behind the booth for meetings as well.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
