IPCPR 2017: Prometheus

While Prometheus celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Fuente Fuente OpusX brand at last year’s IPCPR, this year’s convention was largely about Prometheus’ 25th anniversary, with several special items made to commemorate that event. There were also the return of the Opus22 Humidor and a few special Fuente branded humidors made to honor Carlos Arturo Fuente—better known as Carlos Fuente, Sr.—who passed away last year.

2017 Limited Edition “Tribute To The Man” Humidor by Prometheus

Made to honor Fuente Sr., the “Tribute To The Man” humidors come in three different colors, all priced at $4,000: Red Sycamore (40 total released), Blue Sycamore (40 total released) and Yellow Sycamore (20 total released.) In addition, each of the humidors can hold up to 175 cigars and includes two Prometheus Optima Humidifiers as well as one digital hygrometer/thermometer and a certificate of authenticity.

The humidors also include 50 Fuente Aged Selection cigars:

2017 Limited Edition “Heaven and Earth” Humidor by Prometheus

Another new humidor is the “Heaven and Earth”, which comes in four different finishes priced at $6,000 each: Macassar Ebony (30 total released), Walnut Burl (30 total released), Red Sycamore (15 total released), Blue Sycamore (15 total released) and Yellow Sycamore (10 total released.) In addition, each of the humidors can hold up to 175 cigars and includes one Prometheus Optima Humidifier as well as one digital hygrometer/thermometer and a certificate of authenticity.

 

Each humidor also includes 30 FFOX BBMF cigars and 30 FFOX Tauros the Bull cigars that will be packaged in six separate limited edition travel humidors made by Prometheus.

November 2017 Release of Opus6

As has been the case in the past, the November 2017 Release of Opus6 will be available in five different colors, each priced at $260: Yellow (400 total released), Macassar (600 total released), Red (350 total released), Blue (350 total released) and Black (300 total released.) In addition, each of the travel humidors will include three different publications: 20 Years of Fuente Fuente OpusX, The Fuente Story Passion behind the Tradition and Legacy and Journey to Chateau de la Fuente.

Each November 2017 Release of Opus6 humidor include six different limited edition cigars:

Opus22 2017

An anticipated release every year, the Opus 22 2017 includes 22 limited edition cigars packaged in four different boxes that has the names of the cigars printed on the outside, all contained within a master box. Limited to 500 boxes total, each release has an MSRP of $975 and will be shipped out in two shipments: 350 in November 2017 and 150 in May 2018.

2017 Limited Edition Prometheus 25th Anniversary Triple Torch Flame Lighter
First up is this triple torch flame lighter, which includes a punch cutter on the bottom. The lighter is available in two different finishes—Black Lacquer and Rose Gold—with each retailing for $99.

Continuing the 25th anniversary items, there is a collection of different accessories in black matte with rose gold accents, each of which are limited to just 500 total pieces. First is the 2017 Limited Edition Prometheus 25th Anniversary Cutter H, which is made with double steel blades and retails for $79.95. Next is the 2017 Limited Edition Prometheus 25th Anniversary Retro, a single torch lighter with a flint ignition system that also retails for $79.95. Third up is the 2017 Limited Edition Prometheus 25th Anniversary Ultimo X, which carries an MSRP of $89.95 and features a triple torch flame and a punch cutter on the bottom. Finally, the collection includes a 2017 Limited Edition Prometheus 25th Anniversary Magma T, a triple torch lighter with double punch cutters on the bottom that retails for $99.

There are also two new pocket travel tubes, each of which can fit 6 1/2 inch cigars up to 56 ring gauge. One is made with shiny chrome while the other features a rose gold finish, and both are priced at $39.95.

2017 Limited Edition Prometheus 25th Anniversary Travel Humidor

In terms of travel humidors for more than one cigar, there is the new Prometheus 25th Anniversary Travel Humidor, which are made in France and is sold in both Macassar Ebony and Rosewood finishes. Priced at $295, each of the travel humidors also includes a protective carrying case and a Prometheus 25th Anniversary Magma X lighter.

Next up is the Magma X torch lighter, a compact version of the company’s Magma T lighter also comes with a punch cutter on the bottom. There are three different versions all priced at $89.95: X1 with gold and black lacquer, X2 with gold and vertical lines and the X3 with gold and wavy lines. In addition, there are two versions prices at $79.99: X4 with gun metal  and vertical lines and X5 with metal and barley finish.

God of Fire by Carlito Diademas 56 

While there were not many new cigars released by Prometheus this year, the God of Fire by Carlito Diademas 56 is one of them, a 5 3/4 x 56 belicoso made with a Cameroon wrapper and a binder and filler from the Dominican Republic. The cigars are packaged in 10-count boxes with an MSRP of $24 per cigar.

There was also the God of Fire Serie B Diademas 56, a 5 3/4 x 56 belicoso made with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and a binder and filler from the Dominican Republic. Like the God of Fire by Carlito Diademas 56, the cigars are packaged in 10-count boxes with an MSRP of $24 per cigar.

Prometheus Brush Chrome Personal Metal Ashtray

On the ashtray front, Prometheus showed off a personal ashtray priced at $39.95 that features a plaque on the bottom detailing the myth of Prometheus.

There was just one new cutter, the KKP, which features a brushed metal exterior, stainless steel double blades able to cut up to 60 ring gauge cigars and rubber grips. Each cutter carries an MSRP of $39.95.
