IPCPR 2017: Crux Cigars

Null

Crux Cigars made a splash in 2014 when it showed off its first five lines all at the same time: Bull & Bear, Classic, Ninfamaniac, Passport and Skeeterz. The company added its first limited release—the aptly named Limitada PB5—a year or so later, and announced du Connoisseur, Epicure and Sports.

For this year’s IPCPR, Crux had not only a bigger booth, but also was showing off a brand new vitola in its du Connoisseur line as well as new versions of its Limitada PB5 and IPCPR Show Exclusive.

Crux Epicure

While the Epicure was first shown off at last year’s trade show, the company is finally releasing it this year. A new new Corona Gorda vitola has been added to the three original sizes. The blend remains the same: an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper covering Nicaraguan tobacco in both the binder and filler. All four vitolas are packaged in 10-count boxes and are expected to ship to retailers later this year.

  • Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Nicaragua
  • Crux Epicure Robusto (5 x 50) – $10 (Boxes of 10, $100)
  • Crux Epicure Toro (6 1/4 x 52) — $10.75 (Boxes of 10, $107.50)
  • Crux Epicure Robusto Extra (5 3/4 x 54) — $11.50 (Boxes of 10, $115)
  • Crux Epicure Corona Gorda (5 3/8 x 46) — $9.25 (Boxes of 10, $92.50)

Launch Date: Late 2017

Crux du Connoisseur No. 4

One of Crux’s most interesting projects, the original three vitolas in the du Connoisseur line all came in at 38 ring gauge or below. This year the company is adding a larger size, a 5 x 46 corona gorda that will also be sold in boxes of 10. The blend for the new vitola will be the same as the existing sizes, a Nicaraguan habano wrapper over Nicaraguan tobacco used for both the binder and filler.

  • Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Honduras
  • Crux du Connoisseur No. 4 (5 3/8 x 46)  – $9.99 (Boxes of 10, $99.90)

Launch Date: Late 2017

Crux Limitada IPCPR Show Exclusive 2017

A line that debuted last year, the Limitada IPCPR Show Exclusive is—as the name suggests—sold exclusively to retailers who physically attend the IPCPR Convention & Trade Show. The release uses the same blend as the company’s Limitada PB5 and the release from last year. The one big change is that retailers could outright buy the cigars this year. Last year, they were give one box per every $1,000 spent at the Crux booth.

  • Wrapper: Nicaraguan Engañoso
  • Binder: Connecticut Broadleaf
  • Filler: Dominican & Nicaragua
  • Crux Limitada IPCPR Show Exclusive 2017 (5 x 52) — $10.99 (Boxes of 10, $109.90)

Launch Date: Late 2017

Crux Limitada PB5 Third Release

Crux’s first true limited edition is back this year for the third year in a row, featuring exact same size and blend as previous release. There were a bit more rolled this year compared to previous years, with the total production coming in at 1,000 boxes of 10 cigars, with each stick carrying an MSRP of $11.99.

  • Wrapper: Nicaraguan Engañoso
  • Binder: Connecticut Broadleaf
  • Filler: Dominican & Nicaragua
  • Crux Limitada PB5 Third Release (5 3/4 x 54) — $11.99 (Boxes of 10, $119.90) — 1,000 Boxes of 10 (10,000 Total Cigars)
