The cigar accessory market can be a true battle somedays; at one level there are only so many ways to cut and light a cigar, which leaves room to distinguish new products by price, additional features and design. Similarly, in the humidification market, there are a lot of products out there that claim to be able to properly regulate the humidity of a humidor or other storage space, yet as every cigar smoker has likely experienced, it’s not as easy as it might seem.

Lotus Booth IPCPR 2016

For the Lotus Group/Integral Logistics, the company brought new products to several of its lines and introduced a few subtle but interesting changes that it thinks will help it gain ground in the competitive accessories market.

Lotus Ciguardian packs IPCPR 2016

Ciguardian Humidification Packs

Lotus Group/Integral Logistics acquired the distribution rights to Ciguardian products back in March, and the headlining new product is the portable Ciguardian Humidification Packs. Each pack is designed with organic materials that are designed to be a neutral, cleaner product that does not affect the storage environment or the cigars inside. Inside each pack is what Belinda Doyle of CIgar Tech calls a “super absorbent polymer” along with water and food grade propylene glycol (PG). Over time, the PG biodegrades and the water evaporates, leaving nothing but the crystals. The packs are made in the U.S.A. at Cigar Tech’s Cave Creek, Ariz. manufacturing facility as part of a partnership with a Native American vendor who worked with Doyle on the project. The first product in the line offers 3 ounces of humidification at 70% humidity. $3.50 per pack, or a box of 12 for $42.

Patrick Lagreid

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. I previously covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
