Oliva Cigar Co. kept things fairly quiet at its booth this year, offering a new limited edition presentation of the Serie V Melanio as well as a new NUb-branded lighter.

Oliva Melanio Humidor

As we all know, the Serie V Melanio has been one of Oliva’s most celebrated releases, and to commemorate that the company has produced 1,100 humidors that contain 60 cigars: 20 of the Torpedo, 20 of the Figurado and 20 of the Robusto. These are all pre-existing sizes so no new vitolas, but the presentation is certainly appealing and fans of the brand and Serie V Melanio line will want to keep an eye out for this. MSRP is $900 per humidor and they are expected to begin shipping early in the 4th quarter this year, but that is still tentative.

Oliva Nub Ignition lighter

The company is also branching out with a new NUb-branded lighter called the Ignition. It will sell for $60 and is ready to begin shipping immediately.

Ian Hummel, national sales manager of Oliva, has a bit more detail on both products.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
