La Flor Dominicana was one of the booths that had a couple of very busy days, then experienced a wave lull that I discussed in my Day 2 Recap. That’s good news for you guys, though, because it gave me a chance to talk to Litto Gomez about some of the new products.
Their booth didn’t look much different from last year, however there were plenty of new products they were showing off, which should all be shipping in mid September if everything goes according to plan.
The first product is the 1994 Tango. It’s the same blend as before but in a new size – a 4 1/2 x 48. It will come in boxes of 20 and retail at $136.00 for the box, or $6.80 a cigar.
Next was the Salomón Especial, a limited edition cigar featuring a Nicaraguan Sungrown Habano and Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. Underneath that is all Dominican tobacco grown at Estancia La Flor de Palma in La Canela. The size is a 7 x 64 in a 10 count box that is going to retail for $258.00, or $25.80 each. They did not have a box count for how many released, but said it was very limited.
We also got to see the relaunch of the LFD Coronado. Having been discontinued two years ago, it has now returned with the same blend and sizes, but features a brand new box and logo.
The Air Bender blend returns, this time using a maduro version of the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. The Air Bender Maduro will come in three sizes – the Chisel (6 1/2 x 54, $9.20), Matatan (5 x 50, $7.60) and the Valiente (6 1/4 x 60, $9.00). Each will come in boxes of 20.
Another new and interesting release is the La Nox. A limited production release, it’s made up of a Brazilian Cubra Maduro wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder and Dominican filler. Only coming in one size (6 1/2 x 50), it will come in a round box of 10, retailing at $11.00 per cigar.
Lastly, the Litto Gomez Diez 2015 is a special release, as it is the first cigar to use a new tobacco strain that’s being grown at the Estancia La Flor de Palma farm for the binder. The binder and filler are from the farm as well, making this not only a Dominican puro, but an Estancia La Flor de Palma puro as well. It will come in boxes of 24 and in five different sizes – Americano (5 3/4 x 46, $11.20), Chisel Puro (5 1/2 x 54, $12.80), Cubano (5 x 50, $11.20), Lusitano (6 x 52, $12.80) and Oriental (4 7/8 x 38, $8.80).
