IPCPR 2015: Gran Habano

Null

Gran Habano had let the word out about its new releases prior to the show, and retailers formed a steady stream into the booth to pick up both the new products as well as the existing customer favorites.

First up, the latest edition of the company’s Gran Reserva line, the Gran Reserva #5 2011.

Gran Habano Gran Reserva No. 5

It’s a bold Nicaraguan puro and comes in five sizes, Corona Gorda (5 5/8 x 46), Gran Robusto (6 x 54), Imperial (6 x 60), CZAR (6 x 66) and Grandioso (7 x 70), all in ten-count boxes. Single stick pricing is between $7.50 and $10, with production handled at the company’s G.R. Tabacaleras Unidas, S.A. factory in Honduras. The cigars were rolled in 2011 but the tobacco dates back upwards of eight years.
Gran Habano Corojo No 5 Maduro

The Corojo #5 Maduro uses a San Andrés seed that is grown in Nicaragua, which Rico says is very full bodied and offers tons of spice and pepper.

Joining the featured cigars was the S.T.K. Zulu Zulu Mas Paz edition, which began shipping in April:

About the author

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. I previously covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
