Winemaker Brian Chinnock has used wine themes for his releases in the past, but this year he brings cognac into the mix with the Chinnock Cellars XOXO.

He worked with Sandy Cobas of El Titan de Bronze in Miami to come up with a proper infusion technique, and when he offered a whiff of the cigar, there is certainly no doubt that some premium cognac was used. More info on that part of it can be found here.

While Chinnock and Cobas handled the cigar side of things, Manny Iriarte did the packaging, and he happened to be at the booth when I visited. The two talk about the new Chinnock Cellars XOXO:

It’s being limited to just 500 cigars in a single 6 x 52 vitola and split into 100 boxes of five, each with an MSRP of $150. While infused cigars can be hit or miss, judging off a single whiff, this certainly seems to be one of the more infusion-forward releases in recent memory.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
