The organizers of InterTabac, the international tobacco trade show, have announced an alternative event that is scheduled to take place both in-person and virtually in November.
ITShub will take place Nov. 3-4, 2020 at Messe Dortmund, the same location as InterTabac, though it will be offered as a hybrid an in-person and online event.
The event will include a conference element with speakers that will be available for in-person as well as online viewing. The organizers have said that it will use “modern translation technology” to allow for non-German speakers to have the ability to follow along in English.
Furthermore, in an email, the organizers have promoted “Presence spots,” which appear to be a reference to some sort of option for a typical booth or stand.
“Presence spots” will give companies in the tobacco industry the opportunity to present their innovations, products and services to an interested audience of industry experts.
Clever use of space, lots of room and a comprehensive hygiene plan will make it possible to hold face-to-face discussions despite the pandemic. Complementing this, the digital offering will ensure the messages reach far into the virtual world as well.
ITShub is also described as offering the ability for companies to participate without having a physical booth though details remain unclear.
In-person attendance will cost €22, virtual attendance will be free.
InterTabac 2020 was set to take place Sept. 18-20 before it was canceled by Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe, which owns the trade show and the Messe Dortmund event space. In 2019, 13,800 people attended the event which had over 500 exhibitors from 47 countries according to InterTabac.
