Hostos Fernández Quesada is the new general manager of Cigar Rings, a company that provides bands for cigar companies.

Cigar Rings has operations in both the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Fernández Quesada will be based out of the Santiago, Dominican Republic facility, where he will oversee production, design and customer service, but also work with the Nicaraguan portion.

Last year, CTI Group AG of Austria—which makes a variety of packaging for other items—purchased a 51 percent stake in Cigar Rings. The remainder of the company is owned by Albert Monsterrat and Miquel Pascual, who continue to work at the company.

In May, Fernández Quesada resigned from Quesada Cigars, which is owned by his relatives.

I am an editor and co-founder of halfwheel.com/Rueda Media, LLC. I previously co-founded and published TheCigarFeed, one of the two predecessors of halfwheel. I have written about the cigar industry for more than a decade, covering everything from product launches to regulation to M&A. In addition, I handle a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff here at halfwheel. I enjoy playing tennis, watching boxing, falling asleep to the Le Mans 24, wearing sweatshirts year-round and eating gyros. echte liebe.
