Hooten Young has announced that it has hired Allison Trainer as the company’s new vp of sales for its tobacco division and consulting.

Trainer has been in the premium cigar industry for several years, including as the brand manager for Rock-A-Feller Cigars, a position she started in October 2020. According to her LinkedIn account, she has also worked for Habana House Cigars, Smokey’s Cigar Lounge, and Bobalu Cigar Company, all of which are cigar retailers in the Austin, Texas area.

The company said that Trainer will work with Courtney Teekell, the company’s head of marketing and sales, in support of the company’s sales representatives and the company’s growth initiatives.

“I am excited to bring Allison on given her experience, knowledge and passion for the cigar industry,” said Tim Young, CEO of Hooten Young, in a press release.

Hooten Young is a veteran-owned American whiskey and cigar company that was founded by Tim Young and Norm Hooten, a retired Army master sergeant. Hooten, nicknamed  “Hoot,” served in the Battle of Mogadishu and was portrayed by Eric Bana in the film “Black Hawk Down.” The pair created the company as a brotherhood bonded by the love of freedom, family, and honor, with its cigars and whiskey serving as a tribute to the brave men and women of the armed forces who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
