Earlier today, Federal Cigar announced that the first Crowned Heads store exclusive had arrived and was now for sale. The Headly Grange Snaredrum is an exclusive cigar made for the New Hampshire-based chain of stores, the first time such a project has been done from the Nashville-based Crowned Head.

Snaredrum is a 6 x 38 corona especiales sold in boxes of 10 for $92.50. Only 3,000 total cigars were produced by Tabacalera La Alianza S.A, the E.P. Carrillo factory responsible for producing Headley Grange. It features a Nicaraguan binder and filler and is covered by a Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. This is the seventh vitola for the Headley Grange line, which debuted in 2012. It is the second limited edition, the first—the Drumstick—was a 7 1/2 x 38 lancero. The line draws its name from an English recording studio and in fact the idea for the blend was itself was inspired by the Led Zepplin song, “When the Levees Break.”

Rick Gadway, owner of Federal Cigar, told halfwheel the release is to commemorate the opening of the company’s new 100-seat cigar bar in Portsmouth, N.H. next month.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
