The Cuban cigar company Corporación Habanos S.A. has announced that Ernesto González Rodríguez has been appointed as the company’s new operational marketing director by way of Resolution 143, 2017 of the Minister of Agriculture.

According to a press release, González brings more than 15 years of experience in tobacco to the position, most recently holding the position of commercial specialist of Habanos S.A. From 2002-2004 and 2007-2011, he was the general director of Infifon, the exclusive distributor of Habanos products to duty free stores in Russia, as well as retail and duty free distribution in Belarrus, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kirgiztan, Tadzhikistan, Azerbaijan and Moldova. In 2012, he became the export director of Habanos S.A., a position he held until 2016.

He replaces Enrique Babot Espinosa, who will remain with Habanos S.A. in a new yet undisclosed role, with a press release stating that he will “develop new responsibilities” at the company.
