Gurnee, Ill. Approves Tobacco Purchase Age Increase

The Tobacco 21 movement got another Illinois town to jump onboard, as on Monday night the Gurnee Village Board unanimously approved a proposal that will go into effect immediately.

While the village has not yet posted the full text of the ordinance on its website, DailyHerald.com reports that the ordinance does not criminalize the possession of tobacco products by persons between 18 and 20-years-old.

Gurnee is located 40 miles north of Chicago and has a population of approximately 31,000 residents.
